January 24, 1941 – November 23, 2021
Matthews, North Carolina – James Allen Roberts, 80, of Matthews, North Carolina, died Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Born in Bristol, Virginia, he was the oldest youngster of the late James Clapp and Billie Dungan Roberts.
A Celebration of Existence for James will be held at a later on date.
Allen grew up in Bristol, Virginia and graduated from Bristol Virginia Substantial University. He graduated from Virginia Tech with an Industrial Engineering Diploma and from Widener College with a Master of Company Administration diploma.
He went to get the job done with the DuPont Company in Camden, South Carolina as an engineer and later transferred with DuPont to Wilmington, Delaware as a Organization Analyst and then a Company Investigation Supervisor. After a lengthy career with DuPont, Allen retired, then joined The Discussion board Company of Boston as a Director. Along with that came a shift to Pittsburgh on a agreement with Mellon Bank, wherever he became a vice-president. When Allen retired from Discussion board, he and Patty moved to Camden and bought associated in volunteer do the job.
He was a Trustee and Elder in the Presbyterian Church and Treasure of Friends of the Kershaw County Library. Following that he joined the Board of the Kershaw County Library and became Chair. Later he joined the Historic Landmarks Commission of Camden and turned its Chair. He was also on the Board of the Historical Modern society and volunteered for many several years in the meals pantry of Christian Neighborhood Ministries.
In addition to volunteering, he liked the beach and the mountains. He liked to vacation and visited several locations in and outside the house the United States. He specifically liked Europe, specifically Sicily, Italy. His favorite journey was to Turkey. He preferred old historic residences and structures, antique household furniture and silver, a glass of good wine, the music of Mozart, and the Rolling Stones.
Allen is survived by Patricia, his wife and very best friend of 55 years daughters, Elizabeth Gern (Carl) and Susan Dinlocker (John) grandchildren, Erin Dinlocker, Chloe Gern, Will Gern, Emily Dinlocker, and Allison Dinlocker and his sisters, Diane Francis (Joe) and Joan Jackson.
In addition to his mothers and fathers, he was predeceased by his younger brother, John Randolph Roberts.
